What is Prosthodontics?

Steven Rhodes is a Board Certified Prosthodontist in Las Vegas. Prosthodontics is an American Dental Association (ADA) recognized specialty known for procedures as simple as whitening a tooth or as involved as replacing one or all missing teeth. Prosthodontists are called upon to treat complex cosmetic and full mouth reconstruction cases, both with and without teeth. At our local prosthodontist office, we always put patients first, and aim to provide compassionate care alongside all our services.

What is a Prosthodontist?

A prosthodontist is an expert in the specialized practice of tooth restoration and replacement. Alongside four years of dental school, prosthodontists undergo an additional three years of training in an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited graduate program. ADA recognizes nine specific dental specialties, one of which is prosthodontics.

Did you know that some dentists perform reconstructive dental work following a single weekend course on a particular procedure? That may give them a general overview of what work needs to be performed, but it may to helpful to know that prosthodontists receive three extra years of intense, formal training for dental reconstruction and cosmetic dentistry beyond regular dental school.

Additionally, prosthodontists are ADA recognized specialists, which qualifies them to offer care in state-of-the-art procedures, including:
