What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of durable porcelain that are custom-fitted for shape and color to match your teeth. Veneers are bonded onto the front of your teeth to create a more beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers are a great option for reshaping your teeth and smile. They often serve as an alternative to crowns, and provide an ideal solution for treating a variety of dental conditions. Though veneers are not permanent, they typically last many years before requiring replacement.

Why get porcelain veneers?

·      For cosmetic purposes – to create a uniform smile

·      To place over crooked or misshapen teeth

·      To cover discolored or stained teeth

·      To re-shape teeth that are too big or small

·      Filling in unwanted spaces between teeth

·      Covering over worn or chipped teeth

What does getting porcelain veneers involve?

Getting veneers typically requires two visits: during the first, we prepare your teeth by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for placement of the veneer, taking a mold or impression of your teeth, as well as choosing the proper veneer shade to match your teeth. During the second visit, we clean your teeth with special liquids to create a strong bond between the tooth and the veneer. Bonding cement is used to attach the veneer to the tooth, and a light beam is used to harden and set the bond.

Following veneer procedure, we will give you comprehensive instructions for caring for your teeth, including proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits to ensure that your veneers will last for years to come!
